Day 2
Day 2
The second day took us north to the famous Ribbon Reefs, a series of reefs that are home to species found nowhere else in the world.
The highlight was our encounter with the iconic blue nauyaca, a young angelfish with hand-painted spiral
patterns. In addition, we saw the elusive gray reef shark patrolling the seafloor. Although not endemic, its presence is vital to the balance of the ecosystem.
Another special moment was encountering a school of barrier parrotfish, which with their fused teeth erode the corals, helping to maintain the health of the reef.
